Review: Hot Octopuss PleX with flex

Tucked neatly inside the box alongside my Pulse Solo Interactive was another small box containing one of Hot Octopuss’ newest toys, the PleX with flex. Alas, Christmas and New Years were only a week away. I knew that I’d only have time to finish reviewing one of the two toys before the Holidays hit and I was swamped with other engagements.
Since my last several reviews had been done on butt plugs of various shapes and sizes. I figured I’d give my prostate a bit of a break and try out the Pulse Solo Interactive first. As a result, the PleX remained on the shelf for a bit longer than usual. Once Christmas was over, I did find a bit of time to start experimenting with it and I have to say I was pleased with the results.
When the time came, I grabbed the toy off the shelf, still sitting in its package along with a small bag bearing the Hot Octopuss logo, the charge cord, and an instruction manual and plugged it in for an overnight charge.

The toy itself is quite a nice size. While it isn’t the smallest plug I’ve ever used, it isn’t terribly difficult to insert either. For a toy with a round flange it sits surprisingly comfortably in place. Most toys that utilize this design tend to cause at least a little minor discomfort on my cheeks.
Somehow the PleX does not have this problem. Is there a term for this? Perhaps, “perianal haptic illusion” fits? Yep, I’m just going to have to give up my career as a term coiner. That doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. In any case, it really is surprisingly comfortable. More relevant, it sits almost perfectly along the edge of my prostate, wonderfully positioned to deliver all of those yummy treble and bass waves right where they need to go. Also, just as suggested, this plug is extremely bendy and will move right with your body which is great, especially if you’re changing positions a lot.
Practicalities
As with all vibrating toys, the first test of its usability was in the ease of charging the device. The PleX performance is stellar in this regard. Just pop the USB onto your cube and slide the tip into the tiny hole at the base. Voila!, charging. After a few hours, the red light turned green, signaling that it had soaked up sufficient electricity for play.
Before using a toy like this, I like to familiarize myself a bit with the controls. The “on-board” controls are simple enough. All that is needed is to hold the little power button on the side of the base to turn on the power, then press the on switches for the treble and base motors to start them. If you’d like a different vibration pattern, simply press the button on the side to switch amongst the five available. I found that with this toy I really enjoyed pattern number one, though later you’ll find out that it was pattern 2 that really did me in. Once you’ve got the pattern you like best, you can adjust the intensity of the vibration using the +/- keys on the bottom of the base. Then, switch as needed as you ride toward the inevitable finish.
The remote for the toy is a fun feature, and I’ve discovered that I really like using the remote over the “on-board” controls. It tends to keep things a little cleaner, with less lube getting spread everywhere. It also leaves your hands a bit freer to explore other kinds of stimulation. However, the only major snag I encountered during the whole process of using this toy was my initial encounter with the remote.
In order to keep the battery preserved during shipping the toy comes with the battery upside down and a small sticker to cover the contact points. Not a big deal, except that the cover over the battery is screwed on using a tiny (and I mean TINY!) screw.
No big deal I thought. I wear glasses and my little screwdriver set ought to remove this baby in no time. Not so! Maybe I stripped out the screw trying to wind it out, or maybe it was just wedged in that tight, but my tiny screwdriver could not get it to budge. After a bit of brainstorming, I reasoned correctly that my sketchy and extremely sharp kitchen knife might be required in order to get it out. After a bit of work, and minimal bloodshed I got the cover off. Whew!
I’d like to give you a different suggestion, but that was what worked for me. I guess I’ll just leave it at, “don’t try this at home”, even if I’m unable to offer a better method for taking that little bugger out. Yes, I’m officially telling you what worked for me without suggesting that you actually do it.
After that minor ordeal, I tossed that tiny screw in the garbage as the cover snaps nicely back onto the back of the remote and doesn’t have any trouble staying in place without the screw. With the battery flipped over, and the toy switched on, the remote worked splendidly.
So, how did it feel?
As usual, I got myself carefully lubed up, finger first, then my medium sized plug. After sliding it in and spending about ten minutes perusing some porn I decided that I was ready for the toy itself.
As I mentioned, it isn’t terribly huge. In fact, it’s not much bigger than the plug I use to stretch myself out in preparation. So, it didn’t take long to get ready for the toy. I slid it gently inside, the soft, wide head, gliding past my entrance smoothly, the rest easing in effortlessly. I pressed the power button, turned on the base and treble motors, gasping softly as the vibrations rumbled and hummed. Mmmm…
This first time with the toy, I found myself in the mood to edge myself a bit longer than usual, so I tapped the minus key on the remote to bring the intensity down a little bit. I lay back, and experimented with each motor separately, turning the treble and bass on and off while the other ran.
At first, the bass sensations didn’t feel like they added much, but as I continued to tease myself and get more and more turned on, I found that their heavy thrum made it more and more difficult to hold on. Each time I’d switch them off I was immediately more in control. The treble vibrations felt amazing right from the start, hot white electric vibes warming my groin and skittering about my body as they pulsed forth from my prostate. The only way to control these was to bring the intensity down a bit.
Even so, the longer I played the more turned on I became and I found myself squirming with a desire to come, grabbing my cock and humping my hand for a bit, before lubing up a sleeve and sliding inside. Mmmm…luscious. The combination of the sleeve sliding along the sides of my cock and the vibrations of the toy had me immediately even more desperate to come. I held back, and slowed my thrusts until I was ready to start building intensity. After a bit, I felt confident I could handle more and I slid my sleeve between the couch cushions so that I could thrust into it.
I thrust slowly at first, relishing the wet friction of the sleeve as it melted into the hot electric pleasure building off of the vibe inside of me. Then, harder, and harder until my cheeks accidentally squeezed the power button on the toy, switching to vibration pattern two. Oh fuuuck!
It proved to be too much and my cum burst forth, flooding my sleeve as I spasmed and screamed my orgasm for at least a minute before I relented and slid the toy out to catch my breath.
Hmmm…this toy might be worthy of further investigation…
The second time I tried the toy I found myself with only a half hour to masturbate. When I’m under a time constraint like that I usually look for edging videos that are compatible with the time I have. This way, I can still have a great, somewhat unhurried orgasm, without having to glance at the clock every thirty seconds.
I also wanted to try using this toy in combination with the Pulse Solo Interactive. I found myself back at my favorite Little Oral Andie video with the PleX inserted and the pulse plate making my toes curl every time her head bobbed.
This time I knew I would need to pick up the pace, so I amped up the Plex vibes one notch from their starting position, and turned on the turbo on the Pulse.
The result was blindingly electric. Hot, intense sensations from the Pulse plate collided with the urgent, tickling sensations of the treble vibe in the PleX on my prostate. The rumbly vibes from the bass motor kept time in my internal symphony of pleasure as each note became more and more emphatic. I kept finding myself squeezing my eyes shut, the video forgotten as the sensations from both toys overwhelmed me.
Then, the video must have reached the part where he is fingering her and the sensations from the Pulse plate turned to a constant hum. My precum splattered all over the plate, and inside walls of the toy and I growled, trying to hold on. The toys were absolutely relentless though. I quickly found myself drowning in the combined sensations as they collided and rushed to fill my body.
I was absolutely glowing with pleasure and my legs began to tremble involuntarily. All it took was for me to open my eyes and glance at the screen as she moaned her pleasure. Then, I absolutely exploded all over the Pulse, bucking and moaning incoherently with the violent release of all that I was holding in. I lost track of all my senses as I came, finally setting the dripping Pulse onto the table and removing the PleX as the overstimulation began to become painful.
It took me a while to catch my breath. Then, it was clean up time.
Overall, I think the PleX is a wonderful prostate vibe. The treble and bass feature is an incredibly intriguing one. It allows for a bit more fine tuning of exactly what type of stimulation you receive than most plugs. My only suggestions for improvement would be:
- Find a way to get rid of that tiny, TINY screw on the remote cover.
- It would be really interesting if Hot Octopuss could incorporate a way to control the intensity of each motor independently. As it stands I can turn one or the other off, and I can adjust the intensity of both at the same time. If I could control it so that I could enjoy a little bit of treble with a lot of bass (or vice versa)…mmmm…the songs I could sing.
In addition, if you’ve the ability to purchase both toys and use them in concert, or even just the Solo Essential to use with the PleX, it’s absolutely worth it. Prostate play always gives me incredible orgasms. If that’s true for you as well, and you want to amp that orgasm up to Nirvana level, adding a Pulse toy may just be your ticket.
